Zelfa has been in and out of the boxing gym from just 8 years old. His Uncle Pat (Former British & European Champion) inspired Zelfa to leave college and enter the sport full time at the age of just 15/16 years old.
Zelfa had to take a different route as a Pro boxer and fight regularly to gain his experience before he secured his first titles. In the first 36 months of his career he boxed 19 times on small halls shows ran by his Uncle and Head Trainer Pat Barrett (Black Flash Promotions). After winning his first 18 fights, 11 by stoppage, he fought Chris Conwell for the vacant English super-featherweight title at the First Direct Arena, Leeds.
“My brain,” said the fighter instantly. “Without my boxing brain, nothing else works. That’s why I’m able to read fighters and, again, it’s all down to Brian Hughes. He taught me how to think in the ring. There are a lot of high-level fighters out there who rely on coaches but Brian and my Uncle Pat taught me how to think for myself.”
Zelfa wants to secure a World Title as a Super Featherweight and wants to compete with the best names in the division.

Zelfa can both box and fight and has a left hook that can put any fighter’s lights out. His dream is to provide a better future for both his Mum, Daughter and close family members as well as becoming a name for the boxing history books.
